Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

Ohio State again one of the nation’s best colleges for LGBTQ students

Ohio State is once again on the list of Best Colleges for LGBTQ Students prepared by BestColleges in partnership with Campus Pride. They gave Ohio State five out of five stars, saying the university “offers an impressive set of LGBTQ+ services and resources to create an inclusive, affirming campus environment for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identities and expressions.” They especially noted the work of the Student Life Multicultural Center. Ohio State’s ranking was best in Ohio and #15 nationally.

In order to be in the "Best of the Best" listing, an institution had to score the highest percentages in the LGBTQ-friendly benchmarks for policies, programs and practices.

Ohio State received an overall rating of five out of five stars, with top marks for Student Life, LGBTQ support and institutional commitment, Student Life Housing and Residence Life, recruitment and retention efforts and LGBTQ counseling and health.

Campus Pride and Best Colleges say the ranking list offers a guide for prospective LGBTQ students to identify schools that are culturally inclusive, affordable, and closer in proximity to their geographic location. Additionally, the schools featured on the list were personally vetted by Campus Pride using their knowledge of the LGBTQ education landscape.
