Today's Update: High Five Friday
June 12, 2026
Dear Student Life team,
Happy High Five Friday!
The annual Alliance of University and College Counseling Center Social Work Training (AUCCCSWT) summit was this past week. I was honored to be able to speak with this important group as it supports those involved with training programs at college and university counseling centers. The Counseling and Consultation Service team members were amazing hosts. High Fives to those involved, led by Amy Young, including Stephanie Ranallo, Pam Steurer, Courtney Arbogast, Shiana Bookless, Jake Friedman, Megan Klang, Shivani Edwards, Palmer Rovins and Jennifer Lang. An extra High Five to Shivani Edwards for her beautiful presentation, “The Ethics of Hope.” High Fives as well to Micky Sharma and Mark Sampson for their support.
High Five to Kyle Moore for serving as the Summer Hall Director in Nosker. With his small but mighty team of Resident Advisors (RAs), and the Association of College & University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO-I) intern, he is creating a warm and inviting summer school experience for the residents with lots of community building activities and staff support.
Shana Parker gets a High Five for her work wrapping up the closure of Jones Tower. Shana was truly part of making history with carefully and thoughtfully identifying items for University Archives, organizing other pieces for donation or distribution to other halls but most importantly, taking care of the students who lived there for the last time.
Also from Housing and Residence Education, High Fives to the new hall directors who have begun their onboarding process and hit the ground running, Kelsy Gibson (Busch Halloran) and Noah Bunting (Mendoza Norton Scott).
High Five to the Newark Student Life team for visiting with Zia Ahmed, Ryan Lovell and me on Monday. It was Scarlet and Great to tour their Student Life operations and learn more about the extraordinary work they do.
Speaking of our amazing regional campuses, High Five to Ohio State’s Mansfield campus for earning the prestigious Carnegie Seal of Opportunity College.
Adrienne Gladish gets a High Five for helping with a special delivery that will be especially meaningful to a cohort of new Buckeyes!
High Five to Abigail Frank for reimagining the Coca-Cola donation program. She took ownership of revising the internal logistics, creating a method for data collection and revising some of the parameters around the program. Her work now provides clear, valuable data that will help inform the program for the future while creating logistical efficiencies for the team.
Dining Operations Manager for cafes and coffee shops, Oliver Reyes, gets a High Five for helping Student Life Marketing record new videos for Dining’s digital menu screens. The Marketing Specialist says, “He is so professional, easy to work with and passionate about not only espresso beverages but also delivering an exceptional dining experience to everyone.”
No High Five message next Friday since the offices will be closed for the Juneteenth federal holiday. But keep those nominations coming and have a Scarlet and Great weekend. And oh yes, Go Bucks!
