February 2, 2024

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

None of us wish for stressful days, but it is often in challenging situations that we shine the brightest. I have several High Fives today for people who went above and beyond to support our students and colleagues.

High Fives to Senior Event Planning Coordinator Sara Keefe and Mindy Clagg of Risk and Emergency Management for handling a stressful event situation with professionalism and flexibility.

Nabil Shehata of Environmental Services gets a High Five for stepping in to assist during a recent event and successfully managing a challenging situation with a quick and efficient response.

High Five to Student Health Services Building Coordinator Jim Robinson for arriving very early and staying very late to work on a plumbing issue, all with a positive attitude. He even helped with the clean-up.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Housing and Residence Education, dealing with a number of challenges. High Fives to Assistant Directors Xavier De Freitas, Heather Dwyer, Frida Gillespie, Annie Schuster, Alex Smith and David Ternier for handling it all with the utmost care.

High Five to Lisa Vogt of Disability Services for going above and beyond to identify and borrow a tactile graph-making machine from a community partner when the one at SLDS broke. High Fives as well to Paul Kraemer and the student staff media team for putting in many extra hours in support of students’ Braille and tactile image needs on campus.

Speaking of Disability Services, High Five to Interpreter/Transcriber Dylan Delay for her weekly work in sending out informative and timely student newsletters for our office. And a High Five to Madalyn Lyons for her work supporting the department’s front desk student staff in their scheduling, troubleshooting and day-to-day information needs.

Harry Warner of Counseling and Consultation Service for being elected to an Executive Committee position on the Association for University and College Counseling Center Outreach board.

Human Resources recently posted an article celebrating 50 years of the Ohio State Child Care Program. High Fives to Anne McDaniel and Chrisse Edmunds for being featured.

Speaking of articles, check out this one about President Carter touring our dining facilities. High Fives to our Dining Services team.

Finally, a quick reminder that the Student Life Engagement Survey closes tonight. If you haven’t filled it out at go.osu.edu/SLstaffsurvey, please do so.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend!
