Today's Update: High Five Friday
July 17, 2026
Dear Student Life team,
Happy High Five Friday!
High Five to Hunter Hartwig for being selected to join the AFA Foundation Board of Directors. The AFA Foundation supports the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors.
Taylor Koon gets a High Five for playing a key role in securing seed grant funding from the Career Center of Excellence, paving the way for new paid internship opportunities across Student Life departments. This funding will help expand meaningful, career-building experiences for students while supporting important work throughout Student Life. There was an item about upcoming information sessions in this morning's Slice.
Counseling and Consultation Service hosted the biannual Community Provider Day yesterday. This is a professional development day where mental health providers come to campus to learn about CCS and other support services provided to students across Student Life and the university. 46 providers attended this year! High Fives to the planning committee of Amy Young, Jennifer Lang, Pam Steurer, Stephanie Ranallo, Shawn Lucas, Cheryl James and Brandi Burton. High Five also to Ryan Patel for his plenary session, "Students' Use of Technology, AI and mental health: risks, ethics and digital wellness strategies."
High Fives to those who have contributed their time and expertise through Student Life's Staff Wellbeing, Education and Connection's “Learning from Our Community" series this summer, including Chris Coleman, Teri Cugliari, Tiffany Quattlebaum, Rachel Stefancic, Rachel DeMooy (and Amanda Donahue from OAA), as well as Mackenzie Hogan and Adrienne Wilson who are presenting Recovery Is Spoken Here next week (details in this morning's Slice.)
Student Conduct’s Cortney Brewer gets a High Five for a conference presentation on exercising quality control for users of Maxient, the case management and records software used by Ohio State and more than 1,000 other higher education institutions. The reviews of her session were very positive, including one person who said, “This session was amazing. It was awesome to see tips and tricks I can use to make my job easier and the other users’ jobs easier as well.”
High Fives to the Financial Management team for their exceptional efforts in completing the FY26 financial close. Through their diligence, attention to detail and strong leadership, Molly Hall, Eric Stucke, Brittany Crall, Adam Keller, Hannah Warner and Wes Lindsey, along with their teams, processed hundreds of journal transfers, closed countless transactions and purchase orders and repeatedly reviewed and reran reports to ensure every detail was accurate and properly accounted for. High Fives as well to Kori Montgomery and Dan Huffman for their outstanding guidance, oversight and support throughout the process.
Have a Scarlet and Great weekend. Stay cool and Go Bucks!
