Student Engagement

STEP=Innovation

OCPA, the Ohio College Personnel Association (https://ocpa.campusgroups.com/ocpa/home/, has given STEP (the Second-year Transformational Experience Program) their 2022 Innovative Program Award. STEP is a unique partnership between the Office of Academic Affairs and Office of Student Life. The award goes to those who have initiated “a new program or unique approach to a college policy, program or problem.” Key criteria for this honor are innovative and effective approaches directed towards meeting the changing needs of students on the campus and the applicability of these approaches to other campuses.

Happy Birthday, STEP

In more news about STEP, the program turned 10 years old this month. On April 6, 2012, the university Board of Trustees officially approved the Second-year Transformational Experience program to support the success of second-year students. In the past decade, nearly 16,000 second-year students have participated in STEP, along with 435 faculty mentors. STEP is grateful to their vital partners across campus that have helped make this program a success over the last ten years.

Orientation schedule

New First-Year Student (NYFS) Orientation returns to an in-person format this summer. The two-day sessions will begin on May 31 and conclude on July 28. This year, some of the sessions, including Student Life’s Outside the Classroom, will be held in Mershon Auditorium.

Student Life Updates

Graduation Survey

Spring 2022 graduates are invited to share their feedback about their experience at Ohio State by completing this semester’s Graduation Survey. Please help us by encouraging them to take part. Their valuable feedback will help us enhance the student experience for future Buckeyes and provides data back to colleges. The survey is open through Tuesday, May 10. Graduating students should have received a link to the survey in their email.
