April 9, 2024

Dear Student Life team,

I invite you all to join me in celebrating Student Employee Appreciation Week! Below is a message I sent today to our Student Life student employees.

If you’d like to send a High Five directly to student employees you know, you can use the “kudos” section of Student Life’s Kindness website at https://kind.osu.edu/.

You’ll notice I mention the SEE (Student Employment Experience) program in this message. If you supervise students and need a refresher, Student Life’s Buckeye Careers is offering SEE Onboarding Workshops on April 11 and April 25. Ultimately, we want every student employee, not just in Student Life but across the whole university, to take part in this important effort.

Thank YOU for all you do to support our student employees as they engage, learn and thrive in our workspaces!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You are Scarlet Great, and I am so thankful you are a part of the Student Life team!

As a student employee in the Office of Student Life, you are so important to our team’s ability to help students engage, learn and thrive here at Ohio State and beyond.

I say that not just because this is Student Employee Appreciation Week, although that’s a good reason for this message, but also because you should know that YOU are appreciated.

As a student employee, you not only provide invaluable services to our operation, you do it with an enthusiasm, dedication and initiative that are inspirational to all of us. Your contributions are noticed, and we are Scarlet and Grateful.

I hope you feel that your on-campus employment is much more than just a paycheck. You represent Student Life, and you make a difference in more ways than you can imagine. It works out well for everyone. We get your help, and you get skills that will serve you for a lifetime, and yes...you do get that paycheck.

It is important to us that we support you as a student employee. That’s why we have the Student Employment Experience (SEE) program to help you connect your university employment experiences with your future career aspirations. SEE helps bring clarity to how you are using your on-campus job to learn the soft skills that employers want, and that you will need as you begin your careers.

Watch for a number of Student Employee Appreciation Week activities. Depending on where you work, some of them might include snacks or an ice cream social, contests with prizes and professional development events.

Never forget: you are Scarlet and Great, and the entire Student Life team appreciates you!
