Matt Couch, PhD

As Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Matt Couch oversees student and parent/family engagement and support initiatives. He provides leadership and support for the directors of the Ohio Union and Student Activities, Parent and Family Relations, Student Conduct and Student Life Sustainability. Matt also coordinates Student Life's portion of new student orientation programs, serves as a liaison to Student Life colleagues on Ohio State's regional campuses and engages in shared governance as the administrator for the Council on Student Affairs.

Matt earned bachelor's degrees in psychology and linguistics from the College of William & Mary and both an MA and a PhD in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Ohio State. His primary research interests relate to student involvement and engagement, and he has served as an adjunct instructor for graduate students in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program. He has worked in Student Life at Ohio State since 1997.
