Your Student Life: Up Your Hydration Game
July 8, 2025
Staying hydrated with the high temperatures of summer is essential to keep you enjoying the season. Any activity that causes you to break a sweat means you are losing water that your body needs you to replace. Time spent running, on a bike ride or even just sitting next to the pool means it’s time to get extra hydration in. Consider these tips to help meet your hydration goals this summer
- Don’t wait until you feel thirsty to grab the water. If you are feeling thirsty, it might mean your body is already dehydrated. Add frequent water breaks into your outdoor activities to make sure you are staying on top of your hydration
- Pick fruits and veggies that are good sources of water. Many delicious fruits and veggies that are in season can also help you stay hydrated. Consider adding in cucumber, watermelon or bell peppers for a hydration boost
- Be careful with alcohol. Risks of dehydration are even higher with alcohol since it acts as a diuretic. Enjoy summer beverages in moderation and make sure to alternate with water
