Your Student Life: OUAB Grad/Prof

The Ohio Union Activities Board (OUAB) strives to provide a wide range of programs and events that are educational, entertaining and thought-provoking for students on the Columbus Campus. The Graduate and Professional student committee of OUAB designs and executes over 200 programs each year that are intentionally created to enhance the graduate and professional student experience. In an effort to provide holistic opportunities, we offer programs in five key areas.

Family-Friendly Programs

Embracing that a number of our graduate and professional students have spouses, children and/or are in multigenerational households, OUAB Grad/Prof strives to create programming opportunities in which the families of the students are incorporated into the experiences. These opportunities allow for students to identify campus offices and departments that provide family programs, allow families to be engaged in the campus community and help students develop a community of student parents for networking and relationship building.

OUAB Grad/Prof strives to provide at least one family-friendly program per month. Activities include movie screenings, local field trips and other Columbus attractions.

Personal Enrichment Programs
Our Personal Enrichment programs include a set of activities in which students enhance self-awareness. It is the goal of these activities to help students develop talents and potential, enhance their quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.

The regular offerings include Wellness Wednesdays, featuring a wellness topic every other week to create and promote awareness and education around healthy living. Topics align with the ten dimensions of wellness as outlined by the Student Life Student Wellness Center.

Professional Growth
The Professional Growth Series features a number of structured activities in which students work with various partners from the university and the City of Columbus. This series assists students in developing skills, qualifications and experiences that will enhance their ability to progress through their career.

Programs include professional development workshops, the upcoming Graduate and Professional Student Involvement and Resource Fair and an Etiquette Dinner that provides lessons on utensils and conversation starters.

Social Engagement
OUAB Grad/Prof Social Engagement Programs allow for our students to interact and network with fellow students among and between different graduate and professional programs. In order to create an overall balance for students, social engagement programs and activities allow for students to develop a sense of community and promote the development of friendships outside of their academic programs.

Some of the programs include Quiz Nights and OUAB in the Kitchen.

Special Events
Focusing on food, fun and travel, OUAB Grad/Prof Special Events creates unique opportunities that contribute to lasting memories specific to your time at Ohio State and encouraging intentional, social interaction between fellow graduate and professional students.
