Your Student Life: Off Campus Housing Network

March 3, 2026

Every year, thousands of students look to move into off-campus rental properties. Most have never faced the challenge of finding a new place to live and are confronted with numerous options and choices.

Ohio State is committed to helping students make informed decisions through The Ohio State University Off-Campus Housing Network. The Ohio State University Off-Campus Housing Network is a collaboration among The Ohio State University, Student Legal Services, property owners, and a number of City of Columbus departments, including Police, Fire, Public Safety and Code Enforcement.

This innovative program is designed to support an iconic residential experience in the off-campus area.

The Ohio State University Off-Campus Housing Network establishes certain criteria for off-campus property owners. Those property owners that commit to meeting these criteria will be considered in-network. In-network status is provided to property owners who commit to and uphold specific criteria. Students and families will have access to information about in-network property owners to help them make informed decisions about off-campus living options.

In-network properties are not endorsed or guaranteed by The Ohio State University or its network collaborators. Rather, being in-network allows property owners to provide students and their families with an assurance that they have committed to the criteria required to be part of The Ohio State University Off-Campus Housing Network.

Recognizing that students often face complex decisions when selecting off-campus housing, the Willie J. Young, Sr. Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement (OCCSE) office, within the Office of Student Life, provides education, outreach, and resources to support students throughout their off-campus living experience. OCCSE works to ensure students are knowledgeable consumers by offering guidance on housing searches, leasing considerations, and strategies for establishing a successful off-campus living experience.

Students who are beginning their housing search are encouraged to attend the Off-Campus Living Expo on March 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ohio Union Performance Hall. This event provides an opportunity to connect directly with in-network property owners, gather information about available housing options, and access valuable resources to support the off-campus transition.

By utilizing the Off-Campus Housing Network and engaging with OCCSE resources, students can approach off-campus living with greater confidence, preparation, and awareness, helping to foster a successful housing experience during their time at Ohio State.
