Your Student Life: Morning Connection
February 3, 2026
College mornings can be rushed—grabbing coffee, racing to class or lab and trying to keep up with everything on your plate. But what if starting your day felt grounded, supportive and genuinely human?
Morning Connection is an open, welcoming drop-in experience designed to help Ohio State students begin the day with community, conversation and care. Hosted at Buckeye Commons, this space invites you to pause, connect and recharge—no preparation required. Just bring yourself.
What Is Morning Connection?
Morning Connection is a casual, come-as-you-are gathering where students can:
- Enjoy coffee or tea and light refreshments
- Meet and connect with fellow Buckeyes
- Share conversation, reflection and encouragement
- Take a moment for themselves before the day begins
Whether you stay for five minutes or ninety, Morning Connection meets you where you are. There’s no agenda you have to follow and no pressure to share if you don’t want to—just a space built around belonging and wellbeing.

Why Attend? How Morning Connection Supports Your Wellbeing
1. Build Genuine Community
Ohio State is a big place and it’s easy to feel like you’re navigating it alone. Morning Connection creates an intentional space to meet new people, reconnect with familiar faces and build relationships across campus and the greater Columbus community in a relaxed, low-pressure environment.
2. Support Your Mental and Emotional Health
Talking with others, whether about classes, life transitions or how your week is going, can help reduce stress and increase resilience. Morning Connection encourages open conversation, mutual support and reflection, offering a simple but powerful way to care for your mental and emotional wellbeing.
3. Strengthen Self Care and Personal Growth
Each session is supported by staff from Buckeye Commons and Counseling and Consultation Service (CCS). You’ll have opportunities to:
- Celebrate progress in your academic and personal journey
- Talk through challenges and learn ways to navigate them
- Reflect on balance, boundaries and healthy routines
- Learn about campus resources and support systems available to you
It’s support that feels human, approachable and relevant to your real life as a student.
4. Start the Day on a Positive Note
There’s something powerful about starting the morning with warmth—a welcoming space, a warm drink and people who genuinely care. Students often leave Morning Connection feeling more focused, motivated and grounded throughout the rest of their day.
5. Be Part of a Culture of Care at Ohio State
By attending, you’re contributing to Ohio State’s growing Culture of Care—one where students look out for one another and wellbeing is a shared priority. You’ll also learn ways Buckeye Commons and CCS can partner with you to bring care and connection into your residence halls, student organizations, classrooms and beyond.
