Your Student Life: Hazing Transparency

August 12, 2025

As part of Ohio State’s ongoing commitment to a safe and respectful campus environment, the university is implementing changes to how it reports violations of hazing. These updates are designed to enhance transparency and allow students and families to make the best decisions regarding joining student organizations.

Recent changes to state and federal laws have shifted expectations for how Ohio institutions address hazing. In accordance with Ohio’s Collin’s Law and the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act, Ohio State launched a dedicated webpage that lists organizations that have violated the university’s hazing policies.

Organization and Hazing Violations Page

Both Collin’s Law and the Stop Campus Hazing Act require universities to publish a report on hazing violations twice per year. To promote transparency, the university does not wait to publish violations and will be update violations once the adjudication and appeals processes have been concluded for each case. This page will include violations from the past five years and will be updated in real time.

Hazing violations for individuals is included, but information shared may be limited or redacted to protect personally identifiable information for Ohio State students.

Additionally, this page contains information about all organization violations, not just hazing.

Interim Suspended/Revoked Organizations

Ohio State already publicly posts information about registered student organizations whose registration status has been revoked or is under interim suspension. This page lists organizations that are currently under interim suspension (meaning the organization must cease all activities during the investigation), as well as organizations that have been revoked. The page provides dates for the case resolution and updates for the organization’s status with the university, including reinstatement dates, if available. Revoked organizations no longer have the rights and privileges afforded to a recognized student organization, have any affiliation, supervision or advising by Ohio State and are not under any university purview.

Public records for many of the organization violations listed below are available on our website. [https://studentconduct.osu.edu/organizations/organization-documents]. This page collects documents related to investigations and outcomes for registered student organizations. If you do not find documents for an organization listed on the Violation page, email a request to studentconduct@osu.edu.

The documents include (when available):

  • the original incident report(s)/complaint(s)
  • Notice of interim suspension (if applicable)
  • Original notification of allegations/meeting request from Student Conduct
  • Notice of charges from Student Conduct and response from the organization
  • Outcome letter from Student Conduct
  • Appeal request (if submitted) and appeal outcome letter from Appeals Officer

Please remember, all students who plan to participate in a student group at the university are required by state law to participate in hazing prevention training. A quick and easy way to learn about hazing prevention and complete this requirement is to take the Collin's Law Anti-Hazing Education module on BuckeyeLearn. For more information about hazing prevention at the university please visit stophazing.osu.edu or email stophazing@osu.edu.
