Your Student Life: Getting Ready for Exams

November 26, 2024

Success on finals is within your grasp. And, with a little planning you will maximize your potential. The Counselors at Student Life’s Counseling and Consultation Service would like to share a few tips with you.

First, take care of yourself. Stick to your healthy routines, prioritize sleep and nutrition, stay active and practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing.

Second, prepare academically. Write out your exam and study schedule, attend review sessions, review the material regularly and talk through course concepts with classmates to deepen your understanding of the material.

Third, stay in touch with your people. Connect with peers to form study groups and check in with family and friends to let them know how you’re doing. On the day of your examinations, be sure to prepare supplies in advance and it never hurts to arrive early. This gives you time to take a breath and remind yourself that you’ve got this!

It’s normal to feel stress during finals week. If you need more support, we’re here to help. Schedule a brief chat with a counselor to get support and advice on getting though finals.

Good luck with exams. You’re going to do great!
