Your Student Life: Food Trucks (Undergraduates)
October 8, 2024
If you’re getting a little tired of the daily tradition of eating at Traditions, try one of the many food trucks on campus. You can use your Ohio State meal plan at over 12 different food trucks conveniently parked across campus. Place your order on the GrubHub app. Eating at these food trucks is not only a great way to add variety to your diet but also support local small businesses.
Students can use the GrubHub app to find up-to-date food truck locations and hours of operations. Food truck locations and hours are also listed on the Dining Services website. Note that food truck hours are subject to change based on weather conditions, holidays and the University’s academic calendar.
Food trucks parked on campus include Pitabilities, Choolaah, Dos Hermanos, Paddy Wagon, Iron Grill, Barrios Tacos, Yats Cajun Creole and MediterraneYUM. And for dessert, don’t miss one of these four trucks: Frios Gourmet Pops, What the Float, Funnel Cake Station and Donna’s Delicious Dozen.
This year, one of the new food trucks to bring more international cuisine to campus is Choolaah Indian BBQ. Find Choolaah in the Thyme and Change 4.0 truck parked outside Baker Systems Engineering Building. Students can build their own rice bowl with chicken, paneer, tikka masala, chickpea masala or yellow lentil daal.
For a unique delicious treat, find the new What the Float food truck on the Oval and try a Scarlet Fever ice cream float that combines red cream soda with vanilla ice cream. Or enjoy a Buckeye Fever cotton candy burrito that features chocolate cotton candy, nutty bonbon ice cream with a buckeye.
One of the joys of ordering from a food truck is supporting a local business and watching them grow from food truck to a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Pitabilities, Paddy Wagon and Dos Hermanos have grown in popularity so much they now have two trucks parked on campus. This means when you’re ordering on GrubHub, pay special attention to where on campus you need to pick up your food.
Look for food trucks on north campus near the Tom W. Davis clock tower and Blackburn House. Food trucks on south campus are usually parked outside Kennedy Commons on 12th Avenue, by Orton Hall and outside Hughes Hall on College Road South. On west campus, food trucks are parked between Morrill and Lincoln towers and by Baker Systems Engineering Building.
