Today's Update: Wednesday, April 2, 2025
April 2, 2025
Dear Student Life team,
One of the best things about being part of the Ohio State family is knowing that Buckeyes do more than just give back; we pay it forward.
I’m talking about more than just financial contributions. It’s also about the countless volunteers from all 50 states and across the globe who have generously given their time to better our communities.
That’s the idea behind Ohio State Days of Service. Now through April 15 you can show your Ohio State pride through special opportunities that highlight the limitless possibilities when Buckeyes come together.
Here are just a couple of the opportunities available for you:
-
Out of the Darkness Walk
Thursday, April 10, 6-8 p.m.
There is no fee to register, but there is an opportunity to raise funds to increase awareness, fund scientific research and provide resources and aid to those impacted by suicide. You can join the Student Life Counseling and Consultation team, create your own or walk as an individual.
-
Cards for The James Patients
To support patients receiving treatment at The James, we will have card writing supplies available for staff who wish to send their well wishes. We will hold two card writing sessions: one on Wednesday, April 9, 1-2 p.m. on the fifth floor of Lincoln Tower and another Thursday, April 10, 10-11 a.m. in the Brutus Buckeye room at the Ohio Union. Department leaders who wish to host their own card writing activity with their teams can request cards from Jen Vandemark.46.
The Alumni Association has a “hub” with opportunities to join in other service opportunities around campus and in the Columbus community. To learn more about these options, visit their “find an upcoming service event” webpage.
In addition, Saturday, April 5, is Buckeye Impact Day. Because the Ohio State community is unique in size and spirit and positioned to make an incredible impact when we work together, the university is mobilizing faculty, staff, alumni and friends to make a difference across our communities on that day. Again, check out the Alumni Association service event page to find opportunities for you to consider.
Together, we can impact today’s most pressing needs, reaching across the state of Ohio, and across the country and world.
I encourage you to volunteer, pay it forward and support your Scarlet and Great passion at Ohio State.
