Dear Student Life team,
This is the time of year our thoughts often turn toward gratitude.
It shouldn’t be a once-a-year concept. One of our Culture Commitments is appreciation, along with connection, support and care. Being thankful is something that should be always present in our lives.
Whether you think of it as gratitude, appreciation or thankfulness, taking time to reflect on the good things and people in our lives is important. Consider how your life is enriched by their presence and how you can pay forward that benefit.
One way for us to frame our gratitude is through the lens of kindness.
That’s why I’m pleased that Student Life is helping with a toy drive for students at United Schools Network Elementary schools in Columbus. These are the same schools that were involved in Operation Warm that saw us distribute 300 coats and 200 pairs of shoes to students who needed them. I was fortunate to attend and will never forget the look of excitement and appreciation on the faces of the children.
The details of the toy drive were in last Friday’s Slice. New, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 3-12 are requested. They are also in need of wrapping paper. Red collection bins are in:
- Senior Vice President’s suite on the 3rd floor of the Ohio Union
- 600 Lincoln Tower
- North Recreation Center
The drive will last now through Wednesday, Dec. 14. You can view their Amazon wish list online.
This toy drive is a Scarlet and Great way to be kind and pay forward your blessings.
