Today's Update: Monday, July 31, 2023
July 31, 2023
Dear Student Life team,
It’s about to get busy on campus, and not just because students are coming back.
We have several major concerts, including two on weekdays, summer commencement and a half-marathon run coming up soon. It’s all going to impact traffic and parking, so we need to be aware and plan ahead.
First, the concerts in Ohio Stadium. Here is the list:
- Saturday, August 5: Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel
- Tuesday, August 8: Motley Crue, Def Leppard
- Friday, August 11: Morgan Wallen
- Saturday, August 12: Morgan Wallen (2nd day)
Love the lineup, not so much the travel impacts. Roadways near Ohio Stadium will be closed on those days, parking will be limited and there will be CABS service delays.
The two weekday concerts will have the most impact. Here is the specific information available for Tuesday, Aug. 8, and Friday, Aug. 11.
Road Closures
- Traffic patterns will go into effect as early as 1 p.m.
- The following roadways will be restricted to event permits, emergency vehicles or CABS routes only:
- Woody Hayes Drive from Kenny Road to College Road
- Cannon Drive / John Herrick Drive from Woody Hayes Drive to Neil Avenue
- Tuttle Park Place from Lane Avenue to Annie and John Glenn Avenue
Parking
- Surface lots surrounding Ohio Stadium will be limited to event parking only.
- Individuals who typically park in the West Stadium, East Stadium or South French Field House lots are encouraged to park on the north side of St. John Arena in the north Field House and north St. John Lots.
CABS
- Buckeye Express, Campus Connector and Campus Loop South will experience delays as event traffic increases.
- The Medical Center Express route will experience delays and will be rerouted from 10:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. to avoid outbound event traffic where possible. Service to the Herrick Hub and West Campus will continue.
Then on Sunday, August 6, summer commencement will be held at the Schottenstein Center, and the Grandview Yard Run, a half and quarter marathon, will cross campus.
Also be aware that from August 4 to 12, the Olentangy Trail reroute will be moved east to Tuttle Park Place.
You can get more information online.
It’s a busy and exciting time on campus. A little patience, planning and understanding will help make it Scarlet and Great for everyone.
