Happy High Five Friday.
It’s always a wonderful experience when you can take part in an act of kindness and have fun at the same time, and that was certainly the case earlier this week for our Pack Shack event at French Field House. 600 people packed more than 200,000 meals for those with low food security in Allen, Hardin and Marion Counties. High Fives to everyone involved, led by Tracy Stuck and all those who helped make the event such a success, including Daren Lehman, Aubrie Smith, Dave DeAngelo, Matthew Altendorf, John Cronin, Colette Moreland, Danny Elswick, Dan Huffman, Bridgett Keener, Rob Lyons, Jenn Miller, Kori Montgomery, Drew Stark, Kyle Owczarzak, Craig Rowley, Shea Ryan, Kurt Schooley, Joel Sedziol, Ali Talcott, Tiffany Quattlebaum, Kim Traverse, Jen Cottrell, Travis Barnhart, Candyce Williams, Laura Darling, Isabel Biasella, Sean Stewart, Josh Bodnar, Angie Wellman and Morgan Hammonds.
High Five to Nancy Thompson of Buckeye Careers who has been selected to be on a panel about military veterans making the transition from student to the workforce for a November symposium at the Statehouse.
Also from Buckeye Careers, Tara Nord, Mollie Workman and Jennifer Chilman get High Fives for their leadership in planning a very successful Career Week and the Career and Internship Fair. Their attention to detail and creativity in ensuring a positive student and employer experience has raised the bar for all future career fair events.
This week is Hazing Prevention Week on campus and around the country. High Five to Jaylen Lindsey for organizing and executing such an important and impactful week. High Fives as well to the Student Life departments who helped with the effort, including Rec Sports, Counseling and Consultation Service, Leadership and Community Engagement, Student Wellness Center, Student Conduct, Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement, Sorority and Fraternity Life and the student org team from Student Activities.
High Five to Adam Cutright who stayed after hours to help a contractor complete a project smoothly and efficiently.
Our Facilities regional housing, maintenance and housekeeping teams in Newark, Mansfield and Wooster get High Fives for doing great work. Karon Wilson and Mike Armstrong in Newark continue to set the bar high for the quality delivered by housekeeping, while Jay Lax (ATI-Wooster), Randy Kline (Mansfield), Steve Starr (Newark) and Joe Steiner (ATI and Mansfield) work very hard not only to have rooms ready, but also improve the quality each year. We regularly receive customer surveys complimenting their quick response and friendly service.
High Fives to Alison Reynolds, Nick Aichele, Jennifer Watley and Anna Wagner for facilitating the inaugural sessions of the Buckeye Leadership Wellness Certificate. Also, Ari Camel, Jayden Messer, Kala Coyan-McClure and Jon McCullough get High Fives for their help in bringing the content of this collaborative program to life.
The Student Health Services Pharmacy and Student Health Insurance teams get High Fives for quickly helping a student fill an urgently needed prescription in what turned out to be an unusually complicated situation.
A colleague requested a well-deserved High Five for the Ohio Union Market Dining Services team. She says the menu is always tasty and the staff always pleasant, and says, “I’m obsessed with the ALWAYS FRESH blueberries and chopped mango! The healthy menu options they provide are the reasons why my blood pressure numbers have fallen, and that’s always a good thing!”
I want to give a High Five to Stacy Smith for ALL the things she does! In particular this week she organized an important meeting we call Around the Oval, which brings together the university’s senior administrators with the leaders of the student governments, the Council on Student Affairs chairperson and our student members of Ohio State’s Board of Trustees.
