Dear Student Life team,
Happy High Five Friday and Homecoming Week!
I’ll start with a High Five to everyone who attended this week’s Scarlet and Great Gathering. If you missed it, or if you want to go back over any of the information we covered, you catch watch a replay of our Gathering online. And mark your calendar for the next Gathering on November 14, which will be activity-based and held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Ohio Union’s Lower Level and from 2-3 p.m. in the RPAC Meeting Rooms 1, 2 and 3. A special High Five to all of our raffle winners, including our online winners: Noah Gilbert and Kim Traverse, as well as everyone who helped, organized or spoke at the event, including Interim Provost Zadnik, Matt Couch, Julie Schultz, Isha Atiq and Shina Drummond.
High Fives go to Kaylee Ensco, Cheryl James, Josh Bailey, Kristen Swope, Micky Sharma, Stacey Renker, Qiana Smith, Jenn Irwin, Kim Pachell, Annie Schuster, Barb Kefalas and Shana Parker for providing support to staff and students after a crisis situation.
Jennifer Chilman receives a High Five for her partnership with Military and Veterans Services and ROTC for hosting President Carter yesterday morning. It was a great opportunity to highlight our partnership and how Buckeye Careers serves our military-connected students.
The Buckeyes for Charity Committee hosted a chili cookoff in Lincoln Tower this week. High Fives to Brett Welsh, Mindy Clagg, Stacey Renker, Michael Rengers and Josh Oconer for submitting chili and congrats to our top three winners Peter Hansen, Kristen Van Gundy and John Cronin. A special High Five to Dan Huffman for preparing his special grilled cheese sandwiches, Morgan Hammonds for being his prep chef and Bridgett Keener for organizing the Chili Cookoff. And a High Five to all those who contributed and supported with the set up and clean up – Jess Romer, Aubrie Smith, D’Arcy Oaks, Traci Woodward, Gabi Bockelman, E’nid Patterson, Samantha Bradway, Jaylen Lindsey, Kim Traverse, Jenn Miller, Chelsea Black, Julie Sanzone, Drew Stark, Joe Hast and Thyrone Henderson.
I also want to give a Scarlet and Grateful High Five to all of those who have already contributed to the Buckeyes for Charity campaign. If you haven't had the opportunity, contributions can be made until November 1; it is a great way to support nonprofit organizations in Ohio. Find more information online.
High Fives to BuckeyeThon and the Student Philanthropy team including Felix Alonso, Kristen Van Gundy and Jayden Messer for a successful BuckeyeThon team registration week. Special High Fives to everyone who signed up for our Life of the Party team.
The Willie J. Young, Sr., Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement office wants to High Five Anita McCoy for attending the fall Off-Campus Living Expo and helping to create a strong social media presence during and after the event. They also shouted out the Dining team, who continues to be a stellar partner in supporting students and working together to determine solutions to unexpected challenges.
Our partners from the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation are sending a High Five to the BuckID team for their excellent customer service and facilitating an incredibly easy and seamless process as one team member needed a new BuckID card.
High Fives go to Stacey Renker, Kirk Winters, Julie Sanzone, Elise Nelson, Jenn Nelson, Akasia Gazal and Josh Karnap for their incredible level of support, communication and crowd control in response to an emergency at a residence hall earlier this week.
Last but not least, you may remember from back in August we had a High Five to a long list of people who responded to a weekend facility emergency. In follow-up, Michael Loomis from Tech Services wants to acknowledge Mark Hoy and Tom Roush for their ongoing support in thoughtfully restoring normal operations in that building. High Five, Mark and Tom!
I'm so proud of our Scarlet and Great Student Life team, and as always, Go Bucks!
