November 15, 2024

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

I’ll start with a High Five to everyone who helped plan and who attended either of our Scarlet and Great Gatherings this week. And special High Fives to everyone who donated to the Pay It Forward food drive during our Gatherings. Mark your calendar, the next Gathering will be December 5 – more details to come!

High Five to the Second-year Transformational Experience Program’s (STEP’s) Julie Schultz. Our Sorority and Fraternity Life team is especially grateful for her “incredible dedication and volunteer time serving on the Panhellenic Exploratory Committee. Julie's insights and hard work have been instrumental in guiding important conversations about the potential to expand our Panhellenic community with a new sorority. Her commitment and thoughtful contributions have truly made an impact, helping ensure that we make the best, most informed decision for our campus. We’re so grateful to have you on this journey, Julie—thank you for all that you do!”

Both the Housing and Residence Education and Facilities teams get High Fives for their handling of problems created by a recent water leak in one of our residence halls. Also kudos to all others working behind the scenes, including (but not limited to!) the Student Advocacy Center, BuckID, Financial Management, Planning, Projects and Space Management, and more.

High Five to Cheryl Lyons for obtaining a new certification: IAAP – Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competency (CPACC) after passing the examination.

Taylor Koon and Michelle Norris from Buckeye Careers get High Fives for their outstanding work in planning and leading the Student Employment Experience (SEE) supervisor monthly meetings. They’ve done a fantastic job fostering a sense of community, sharing best practices and promoting collaborative learning.

Also, in Buckeye Careers, Paul Newell gets a High Five. A colleague in another department says, “Paul always brightens up my day with his thoughtful emails that show he genuinely cares about his colleagues. I enjoy my interactions with Paul because of his cheerful nature. Students are fortunate to have a career coach like him in their corner.”

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend, with a huge helping of Go Bucks!
