March 21, 2025

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

High Five to Cortney Brewer. In her role as Student Conduct’s Senior Analyst, Cortney supports multiple departments that use the Maxient record-keeping software, including departments outside of Student Life. When one of our partners changed their office name a couple of weeks ago, dozens of system changes were required. Cortney worked diligently with our impacted colleagues and Maxient to deliver quick and reliable results.

Mollie Workman and Tara Nord of Buckeye Careers get High Fives for quickly offering to cover for a colleague who received a professional development opportunity at the last minute. Mollie and Tara really represent our culture commitments in their support of their team.

High Five to Rec Sports Esports Manager John Price. One of the conferences our premier teams compete in offered this analysis of Student Life’s program, “As esports continues to evolve, The Ohio State University remains at the forefront, fostering talent and innovation. With robust leadership, exceptional facilities, and a vibrant community, OSU's esports program is poised to set new benchmarks in collegiate esports.”

The Risk and Emergency Management team suggests High Fives to the many members of the Campus Activism and Event Engagement team in Student Life (and beyond!) who continue to dedicate their time and talent to ensuring the safety of our students during the many events taking place this spring.

High Five to Kelly Bonice from Student Life Disability Services for truly living our culture commitments by providing care and calm professionalism when working with an extremely challenging situation recently.

A special High Five to Leslie Beary from our Marion campus. One of her team members shared how much they appreciate Leslie’s support, especially during a time that she is juggling quite a hefty workload.

Debbie Wakefield of Student Life Marketing gets a High Five for her support of Buckeye Careers and the Student Employment Experience (SEE) program. A colleague in that area says, “Debbie has been an invaluable resource—always willing to answer questions, offer guidance and even meet with my undergraduate student employee who is leading the initiative. Her kindness, clear communication and willingness to help have made a huge difference, and I truly appreciate her support!”

High Fives to Akua Nelson and Tom Reeves for their planning and implementation of an outstanding reception during this year's NASPA conference. It was wonderful to see Buckeyes from near and far come together to celebrate the joy of being a Buckeye or being friends of Buckeyes!

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend, and, don’t ever forget, Go Bucks!
