Dear Student Life team,
Happy High Five Friday!
Everything is back up and running today after yesterday’s serious computer network issue. High Five to the Student Life Technology Services team for getting all our systems and services restored. High Fives to John Link, Helios Yu, Mike Loomis, (who worked non-stop was responsible for the hunch that led to our culprit, a single bad server), Mohammed Baseer, (who, with OTDI Enterprise Security, reviewed a mountain of logs), Mike Koren and Nate May for planning and prepping to restore services, the S2F team and SLTS Client Services for answering calls and tickets, our network equipment vender, Juniper, and the OTDI Enterprise Networking and Data Center teams who proactively reached out and never stopped hunting with our team until we told them they were off the hook.
High Five to Student Life’s FOCUS Team members who spent time last week at the Charity Newsies headquarters helping to prepare clothing for distribution to kids in the local community. I am truly blessed to work with such a caring and compassionate group of humans!
High Five to Student Life Disability Services staff interpreters Holly Heffernan, Dylan Delay and Sam Dible for interpreting and captioning 6 hours, 41 minutes, and 35 seconds of recorded lectures so that a student could access course material in their native language. Holly, Dylan and Sam prioritized this task and were able to complete the interpretation and captioning on short notice and in sufficient time for the student to stay on track with the course schedule. Taking on this responsibility was no small feat and required them to rely not only on their expertise in American Sign Language, but in navigating the technology necessary to deliver the captioned videos efficiently.
The Buckeyes are heading to the Cotton Bowl and so is Student Life’s Student, Faculty, Staff, Parent and Family Post Season Play Tour. High Five to Tracy Stuck for organizing our Bowl Tour again this year, to Dave Wiseley and Tiffany Quattlebaum for crunching the numbers, Candyce Williams for setting up meetings and dealing with Workday and to Travis Barnhart, Christy Muhoberac, Christian Manning, Anita McCoy and Dave Isaacs for getting out the word that tour packages are on sale.
High Five to Facilities Operations Manager Lauren Meng, a USAC Staff in the Spotlight honoree this month.
Have a Scarlet and Great weekend, and no doubt about it, Go Bucks!
