Happy High Five Friday!
I was thrilled to attend the Student Life Leadership awards last week to help celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of our students and student organizations. High Five to Kala Coyan-McClure for the months of work organizing this spectacular event.

I also want to High Five the Student Life team members who were honored at the Leadership awards: Madison Eagle, Outstanding SEE supervisor; Dave DeAngelo, Outstanding Advisor Award; and Jen Pelletier, Contribution to Student Leadership Development.
This is the recognition and awards season, and I love the appreciation being shown for all the Scarlet and Great things that have happened this year. High Fives to Kim Monteaux De Freitas, Teri Cugliari, Cristina Vega, Will Cangialosi, Hunter Hartwig, Eddie Labid, Elizabeth Westrick, Gabi Nuñez and Elise Nelson for the successful Sorority and Fraternity Life Awards. The honors handed out included Outstanding Campus and Community Partners; High Fives to Risk and Emergency Management and the Student Wellness Center’s Brandon Horton.
High Fives to Felix Alonso, Kristen Van Gundy and Jayden Messer for a wonderful BuckeyeThon Banquet in celebration of the students and their accomplishments this year.
High Fives to Kathy Krajnak and Kala Coyan-McClure for an awesome Mount Leadership Society celebration ceremony.
High Fives to Tom Roush, Sam Raymond and Alex Cates of our Facilities team for coming in very early on a Saturday morning to address a plumbing issue. Their effort and commitment greatly reduced the impact in the building.
Speaking of Facilities, High Fives to Kennedy North, Okello Dunbar, Derek Thrash, Andres Collins and Michael Whitfield for dropping what they were doing during shift and responding to a water event. Their quick response helped prevent even bigger issues.
Esports in Rec Sports hosted a tournament last weekend that included virtually all of the Big Ten schools. The Lantern did a video about it that you can watch online. High Fives to John Price, JR Rathjens, Domonique Dunn and Rachel Rayburn, as well as the rest of the Esports staff who were instrumental in putting this historic event together.
High Five to Debbie Wakefield of Student Life Marketing. Debbie is new to the team, and Buckeye Careers says she has asked very thoughtful questions and offered new ideas in promoting their resources and events. “She approaches her work with kindness and curiosity, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with Debbie and all the support from the Student Life Marketing Team.”
High Five to Ohio State Lima’s Justin Courtney for currently appearing on stage in the Wapakoneta Theater Guild’s presentation of “Funny Valentines.”
This week was the second annual College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Wooster Carnival with a dinner, snacks, activities and, of course, prizes for the students. High Five to Kelly Kyser for helping make it a success, and High Five to this year’s honoree, ATI Associate Director Carri Gerber, for her “unwavering dedication and commitment to students, faculty and staff. She is always there for Student Life events on campus.”
