Updated University Space Standards
If you are a faculty advisor to a student organization or are planning your own events and activities, please be sure to review the university’s Space Standards that were updated over the summer. If you have questions about the standards or reserving spaces for your events, you can write to studentlife@osu.edu.

Ohio State’s Commitment to Freedom of Expression
The First Amendment and Ohio law expressly protect the rights of students, faculty, staff and visitors at the university to lawfully engage in speech and expressive activities. The Freedom of Expression website is an online hub for support resources, policies and other information to help everyone participate in public discourse and exercise their rights. The website includes educational content about the First Amendment, including Frequently Asked Questions. You can read more online at https://freedomofexpression.osu.edu/

Listen. Learn. Discuss.
Ohio State expects members of our community to contribute to an environment where trust and respectful dialogue are the norm — not the exception. To advance this, the university has launched a new civil discourse initiative to help members of our community listen to and discuss different perspectives productively, build trust with one another, learn to successfully navigate complex conversations and clearly articulate their point of view.

Listen. Learn. Discuss. will help students, faculty and staff form skills to engage in productive and respectful dialogue. More information is online.

Unrecognized Groups
For more than 150 years, registered student organizations have been an integral part of the student experience at The Ohio State University. Due to violations of the Code of Student Conduct for very serious safety concerns, Ohio State has revoked the registration status of several organizations in recent years. Organizations that have had their recognition revoked by the university due to violations of the Code of Student Conduct can be found online. These organizations no longer have the rights and privileges afforded to a recognized student organization. We appreciate your help in encouraging students to consider organizations’ conduct history before joining.

Let’s Talk
This won’t be news to anyone, but as the academic year starts, students at every level will be going through transition, which can often be stressful. When stress and anxiety are caught early, Student Life Counseling and Consultation Service can easily support students with brief consultation. Please help us make students aware of our “Let’s Talk” service which can be very helpful to them during the first few weeks of the year.

Carry Naloxone. Save a Life!
"Carry Naloxone. Save a Life!" Educational module provides participants with information on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, administer the opioid overdose reversal drug and educate about the importance of harm reduction. Participants will leave with a naloxone kit and fentanyl test strips at no cost. Register for Naloxone Training online or request group training by using the Student Wellness Center Presentation Request Form.

University-Wide Career and Internship Fair
All Ohio State students are invited to attend the University-Wide Career and Internship Fair in person on Wednesday, September 18, from 1-5 p.m. at the Ohio Union and virtually on Handshake from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, September 19. Students and alumni from any college, campus, major, year or degree, level including graduate and professional programs, are invited to attend the career fair. It is an opportunity for all students to network with a wide variety of employers from corporate, non-profit and government sectors. It also includes workshops on topics such as resume writing and job search tactics. For more information, visit the Buckeye Careers website.

Conduct Board
The University Conduct Board (UCB) hears cases in which students are charged with non-academic violations of the Code of Student Conduct. The UCB is comprised of students, faculty and staff from across the university. By modeling civility and care during what can often be a challenging experience for students, the UCB provides a valuable service to the entire university by upholding the university’s standards through a fair and impartial hearing. Learn more about joining the UCB at go.osu.edu/UCBService. Apply to serve on UCB through the application link. If you have any questions related to the board or the ability to serve, please contact Kirby Bell at bell.1776@osu.edu

Committee On Academic Misconduct (COAM) Student Panel
The Committee on Academic Misconduct (COAM) is looking for students to help uphold our shared values of integrity. Panel members will serve alongside faculty to consider cases of potential student academic misconduct. Benefits to students include learning valuable skills of interest to employers—including collaborative decision-making, the ability to work with confidential materials and proceedings, and responsibility for upholding organizational standards of behavior and accountability. More information is available online at go.osu.edu/coam or contact COAM at coam@osu.edu.

Sloopy's Game Day Buffet
Make your first Ohio State football game day of the season unforgettable by starting with brunch at Sloopy’s Diner. On Saturday, Aug. 31, and before every home game, join fellow Buckeye fans for a feast of breakfast favorites anytime between 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the iconic Ohio Union.
