Disability Services Open House
Student Life Disability Services invites you to attend an event tailored to our academic partners on Thursday, March 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at our offices in 098 Baker Hall, 113 W. 12th Avenue. We currently serve nearly 7,000 students across the campus in all departments. Supporting our students takes intentional collaboration and resources; both of which couldn’t be achieved without your continued support. We invite you to join us to tour our facilities, meet our staff and grab a bite to eat. Come when you can and leave when you must. You can RSVP for the open house online and request needed accommodations. Email slds.osu.edu with questions.
Recovery is Spoken Here
The Office of Student Life, Student Wellness Center's Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC), in partnership with the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD), is offering the Recovery is Spoken Here training for faculty and staff members on April 4 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This 1.5-hour virtual training will provide a high-level overview of addiction and recovery, a look into addiction and recovery on campus, describe recovery friendly language, provide information on how to connect students with the CRC and share ways you can be involved as a Recovery Ally. You can register for Recovery is Spoken Here online.
Student Employment Experience
The Student Employment Experience (SEE) program aims to provide students with meaningful work experiences through their student employment through intentional reflection and professional development. SEE does this by providing training, support and resources for supervisors of student employees to give them the tools to support their student employees. Any supervisor of students on campus is invited to join the SEE program. You can find more information and sign up for onboarding at www.see.osu.edu or by contacting see@osu.edu
NPHC on WOSU
WOSU Public Media has produced a special video on the National Panhellenic Council Plaza on campus. The video is part of WOSU’s Columbus Neighborhood series. The plaza honors the council’s nine historically Black Greek-letter fraternities and sororities, also known as the Divine Nine, and is located on the South Oval by the historic Dr. Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center. You can watch the entire Columbus Neighbors episode online, or just the segment featuring the NPHC Plaza.
Instagram Walls
The Office of Student Life and the Center for Human Kindness are again hosting a contest for Ohio State students, faculty, staff, alumni and Columbus region community members to submit artwork that could be featured in outdoor spaces around campus. These Instagrammable Walls will help promote kindness, love, positivity and mental health support on campus and in the Columbus community. In addition to seeing their artwork displayed around campus, winners of the #BeKind Instagram Wall Contest will also receive $500 to donate to a non-profit organization of their choice from the Columbus Foundation’s Giving Store. The #BeKind Instagram Wall Contest is open through May 1. Learn more about the contest online. You can submit your design online.
What it Means to be a Buckeye
Former Buckeye and NFL great Malcolm Jenkins will be the guest of this year’s “What it Means to be a Buckeye” event on Thursday, March 21, from noon-1 p.m. in the Ohio Union’s U.S. Conference Theater. Hosted by Student Life Senior Vice President Dr. Melissa Shivers, Mr. Jenkins will discuss leadership, his recent book and answer audience questions. A book signing and photo opportunity will follow the event. Please RSVP online by Tuesday, March 12. Space is limited. This program is sponsored by the Office of Student Life and OUAB Grad/Prof.
Graduate/Professional Student Trustee
Ohio State’s Board of Trustees seeks a graduate or professional student who excels as a leader, is an Ohio resident and plans to attend the university through May 2026. One student will be chosen as the next student representative on the board. Faculty and staff who know of qualified candidates can encourage students to apply by Monday, March 18. More information is online.
As always, thank you for your partnership and support of Ohio State students. Have a Scarlet and Great Spring Break!
