Finals Week--Message to all Ohio State Students

April 23, 2024

Spring Semester Finals Week kicked off today with Reading Day. I am wishing all Buckeyes a successful and productive week of studying, paper-writing, project completion, test-taking and all other academic pursuits.

During this last week of the semester, it is important that spaces throughout our campuses are fully conducive to academic focus and success, from residence halls, recreation centers and academic buildings to the Ohio Union and places where students study outside. I am asking all of our campuses’ community members to be thoughtful about ways they can support other Buckeyes’ preparation and success.

As a reminder, per the university’s space rules, Finals Week sound restrictions are in place throughout our campuses through the last day of finals. To be clear, unless prior authorization has been granted, amplified sound is not permitted indoors or outdoors. This includes, but is not limited to, audio enhancement devices, vocally amplified sound, and other noise-making instruments. Building coordinators, student support staff and public safety partners will assist in upholding the space rules.

Consistent with our standard practice, violations of the sound restrictions and other university policies, rules and guidelines will be referred to Student Conduct and processed accordingly.

Thank you very much for doing your part to support the success of all students who are working hard to finish the academic year strong, and good luck on your own end-of-semester preparations.

Best wishes for a successful Finals Week,
