The Scarlet Table Roundtable
The Scarlet Roundtable is a monthly opportunity to bring together Student Life staff and graduate students from across the division to engage in conversation and connection. These dialogues are an opportunity for us to share our perspectives on topics impacting our campus and community, while also offering a space to build supportive, caring working relationships with one another.
This month’s gathering will focus on mattering at work; this includes exploring gratitude and recognition, connecting personal values to our university mission, and employee engagement here in Student Life. This important conversation will take place on April 22 at noon on Zoom.
Connection and Support: Showing Up for Ourselves & Our Teams
This 90-minute in-person workshop on April 25 at 10:30 a.m. will provide a quick overview of the Magic 5 Professional Antibodies developed by Dr. J. Eric Gentry and colleagues to support our professional wellbeing in the face of work-related stress and trauma reactions. One of the Magic 5 Professional Antibodies involves the concept of “connection and support.”
Join us in the Barbie Tootle room of the Ohio Union as we explore evidenced based means of focusing on centering collective care and wellbeing on our work teams to increase belonging and connection in the workplace. All Student Life staff and GTA’s are encouraged to attend. This session will be led by Dr. Lois Stepney from the College of Social Work.
YP4H and Virgin Pulse Tip Session
Have you ever been confused or overwhelmed when trying to use the Your Plan for Health Program or the Virgin Pulse app? On April 30 from 10:00am- 10:45am, come and learn tips on how they work and how you can maximize your wellness benefit every quarter! All Student Life staff who utilize OSU health insurance are encouraged to attend. 1 on 1 assistance with Morgan Hammonds will be available after the session until 12:00pm.
Affirmative and Caring Professional Mentorship & Supervision
Let's talk about mentoring and supervision in Student Life as a process of helping others succeed. When we mentor using a lens grounded in access, belonging, growth and development, we empower colleagues to succeed. In turn, this supports both colleagues' and students' whole selves in the work we do toward affirmation and belonging for all. This Zoom session, which is open to all Student Life staff and GTA’s, will be facilitated on May 8 from Noon to 1 pm by Dr. Collette Dollarhide from the College of Education & Human Ecology.
Self-Care in Student Life
On May 14 the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will be providing Student Life staff a virtual workshop on Self-Care from 11:00am-11:45 am. Please join us as Student Life invites EAP to discuss transitioning from end of semester chaos to a period of self-remembering. In this Self-Care Check In, we will consider the different components of ourselves that need attention and renew our vision for the coming months.
