Your Student Life: A New Year Begins for Grad/Prof students

August 7, 2024

Happy New (Academic) Year!

It is good to have you on campus. Whether you are just starting your program or are returning, we hope you are excited about this coming year. The start of a new academic year is always special, no matter how long you’ve been taking classes.

There are a number of events in the next couple weeks that are focused specifically for grad/prof students.

The Graduate and Professional Student Involvement Fair is Friday, August 23, in the Ohio Union Performance Hall. The Fair runs from 4-7 p.m. and you can stop in anytime during those hours. It’s an opportunity to learn about all of the services, programs and opportunities for grad/prof students at Ohio State, with more than 50 university departments, Columbus institutions and student organizations represented.

That same afternoon, Friday, August 23, the Graduate and Professional Welcome Picnic gets underway at 5 p.m. in the Ohio Union’s Archie Griffin Ballroom. It runs until 8 p.m. and you can drop in and grab food, listen to music, take a lap on the roller rink and snap some photos with friends new and old. Admission is free for you and one guest. Just bring your BuckID.

OUAB, the Ohio Union Activities Board, has programming especially designed for graduate and professional students throughout the year, many of them family friendly. The Graduate and Professional student committee of OUAB designs and executes over 200 programs that are intentionally created to enhance the graduate and professional student experience in areas such as personal enrichment, professional growth, social engagement and special events.

You can check out the OUAB calendar of events online.

As a grad/prof student, you can also buy tickets to area events and attractions at a deeply discounted price through our D-Tix program

Welcome (back) to campus. We’re happy you’re here!
