Today's Update: Wednesday, July 29

July 29, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, For Wellness Wednesday this week, I want to ask your help for something important to the wellness of our entire campus. As you know, Move-In will look a great deal different this year, spread out over 12 days with limits on how many people can arrive at each residence hall at any given time. The role for volunteers will be different this year, too, but we still need your assistance.

We won’t need as many volunteers per day as we would for our typical Move-In, but we will need to cover a greater number of shifts in order to be on hand for each of the dozen days that students will be arriving. In fact, we need to fill a total of 834 shifts (of about five hours each) over the 12 days. That’s a lot of shifts, and you can see why your help is really needed.

So, what will you be doing? You’ll still be welcoming students and their families, just like always. It will just be while maintaining proper physical distancing. Some of you will be assigned outside the building providing guidance to those arriving, while others will be inside helping sanitize and distribute carts. You may also help explain the process, show them where to park while unloading, etc. And, of course, providing gentle reminders to stay physically distant and to wear a face mask.

Here is a link to sign up.

I truly appreciate your willingness to help out with this effort. It won’t be like past years, but we still have an excellent opportunity to get this semester started on a Scarlet and Great path.
