Today's Update: Tuesday, March 7, 2023

March 7, 2023

Dear Student Life team,

For Today’s Update, I am writing to ask for your help. I would love for your feedback on what would be a useful and meaningful self-evaluation tool.

As I shared at our Scarlet and Great Gathering last week, although we are only a few months into 2023, we are getting closer to the end of our Annual Performance Management Process. Each May, as part of Performance Planning, Coaching and Evaluation (PPCE), staff have the opportunity to complete a self-evaluation that they share with their manager and is considered as part of the evaluation process.

I have recently received some feedback on the self-evaluation tool, most of it suggesting that our Student Life team generally thinks it is time for a new version.  If you are not familiar with the current tool, you can find it linked in the Performance Evaluation section of the Human Resources page of our Student Life intranet.

Self-evaluation tools can be really powerful and effective. They can provide a way for staff members to reflect on their accomplishments and challenges over the past year, as well as their performance and their contributions to the team. It can also serve as a helpful tool in pausing to really ponder what one is most proud of and where we want to continue to grow and learn.

For managers, an employee self-evaluation can provide insights into things that they may have missed or forgotten. They can be a great starting point for deeper listening and conversation about an employee’s development and the support the team needs.

With this in mind, please take a few moments to fill out the survey at this link. Responses are anonymous and the survey will be open until Friday, March 17. The results will be used to craft a new self-evaluation tool that will be shared prior to this year’s annual performance evaluation.

Thank you for your thoughts, feedback and for being Scarlet and Great!
