Today's Update: Tuesday, August 4

August 4, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, We all want a safe and healthy Ohio State community. And we all bear a responsibility to do our part.

I hope you have seen messages about a new COVID related online program through BuckeyeLearn. ( All Ohio State students, faculty and staff are required to complete this training and a commitment pledge to help promote a safe and healthy campus community.

Training and education are the first step to ensuring the university’s health and safety guidelines are properly followed. It is important that everyone: faculty, staff, students and student employees, understand the expectations and why the guidelines are important.

The course covers expectations for daily health checks, physical distancing, personal protection, hygiene, staying informed and the Together as Buckeyes Pledge. The training only takes about 10 minutes and you’ll be able to sign that pledge via eSignature when you complete the course.

Completing the training and signing the Together as Buckeyes pledge are required for all students, faculty and staff before returning to Ohio State’s campuses. If you have already been working on a campus, you should take the online training and sign the pledge as soon as possible. For those not physically returning to a campus, the training and pledge need to be completed by the start of autumn semester on August 25.

The guidelines and requirements have been created for our university community by the COVID-19 Transition Task Force based on the recommendations of the Safe Campus and Scientific Advisory subgroup. The guidelines are based on the latest data and recommendations from local and federal public health officials.

Please visit the Safe and Healthy Buckeyes website ( regularly for updates, including guidance related to our mask requirement for all students, faculty, staff, vendors, volunteers and visitors. More information about the training and pledge is also available on the website.

I cannot stress enough the importance of this training. Our community is only as strong as the members of the community, and this training program reinforces our responsibility to protect ourselves and others.

Stay Scarlet and Great!
