Today's Update: Thursday, March 11
March 11, 2021
Dear Student Life Team, I’d love to think we have all the answers, but I know we don’t.
What I do know is that two heads are better than one and that it’s important to hear a diverse range of ideas and perspectives. I also know that some of the best ideas I hear come from students.
I meet regularly with students, some in groups, some individually, and am thoroughly impressed with their insights and passion. One group of students I meet with regularly is the Student Experience and Engagement Delegates (SEEDs). These are undergraduate, graduate and professional students from across Ohio State, including the regional campuses, who are interested in contributing their ideas for the best Ohio State possible. I started this group in the fall to give additional opportunities for students to share their ideas, regardless of whether they are already actively involved on campus.
Applications are being accepted for the 20 positions in the 2021/2022 SEEDs cohort until 5 p.m. on March 21.
All undergraduate, graduate and professional students from all campuses are invited to apply. SEEDs are students from any program, level and leadership experience. They aren’t required to have a leadership position in a student organization, or even be in a student organization at all. Commuters and virtual learners are just as welcome as those who live on or near campus.
I’m looking for SEEDs to provide feedback and solution-oriented ideas about a wide range of issues, such as campus policies, climate, engagement, barriers and support that is crucial to student success.
There is more about the program online at go.osu.edu/SEEDsprogram. And please tell students you know about the opportunity – we want as many applications as possible.
Our students are Scarlet and Great, and I’m fortunate to learn from them so we can create the best Ohio State possible.
