Today's Update: Thursday, January 28

January 28, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, As you know, I am a huge believer in the power of gratitude – that’s why appreciation is one of the pillars I established in Student Life’s future focus strategy…and of course why I love High Five Fridays.

A simple thank you does great things, both for the recipient and the sender.

That’s what makes an initiative by Student Life Disability Services so important. They have started something called Buckeye Access All-Stars. It gives students the opportunity to recognize a faculty, instructor or staff member who has made a difference in their experience by promoting access for students with disabilities.

It is important to make sure this group hears directly from grateful students. Faculty and staff are key campus partners in advancing a culture of access and inclusion across campus.

The program began last semester and will be open for nominations at the end of each term. And if a student just can’t wait, they could also use the Kudos feature on

Recipients are grateful for the expressions of gratitude. One responded by saying, “It means a lot to hear that my efforts were helpful to someone who may have most needed support during a tough semester/year. It underscores the need to continue as well as enhance inclusive practices and encourages me to improve my efforts at doing so.”

A simple thank you is important, and especially key in recognizing the critical work of providing equal access to all students. The Buckeye Access All-Stars initiative is a Scarlet and Great way to express gratitude.
