Today's Update: Thursday, January 14
January 14, 2021
Dear Student Life Team, Workday is here!
The transformation to the university’s new cloud-based human resources (HR) and finance management system continues this week.
HR changes and fiscal operations both went live last week. We will all, faculty, staff and student employees, use Workday to update personal information, request leave, select benefits, make university purchases and more. A great benefit of Workday is that it can be accessed both on your computer and on mobile devices through the Workday app.
I encourage you to participate in training to gain confidence with using Workday (if you haven’t already done it!). Training recommendations can be found at the Workday site and in BuckeyeLearn. The university and the Office of Student Life have established many resources to support you as you begin using the new system.
One helpful tool being offered is live weekly SL Zoom webinars. These sessions are held every Thursday at 2 p.m. Be sure to pre-register online. The sessions facilitate learning from one another, provide an avenue for finding answers to your questions and share general information about the Workday system as it relates to your role. Topics span every aspect of Workday from financials and HR, to timekeeping and leave. Additional resources to assist you include the Administrative Resource Center, the Student Life Workday FAQ page, your HR consultants and your Business Office.
I would like to offer a Scarlet and Great thank you to the Student Life team members who have been instrumental in leading this conversion. They include Student Life’s Enterprise change coordinator Brandon Smith; our business management and central administration staff, including Donna Lewis, Dan Huffman, Tiffany Quattlebaum, Ellen Kocian, Chris Addison, Brittany Crall, Eric Stucke, Molly Hall and Allison Coleman; our HR consultant team, Shina Hayden, Chrystal Zimmerman, Debra Ward, Stephanie Franks, Leah Hall, Jonathan Register, Katie Camp and Jonathan Adams; also from HR, Deb Miller and Jean Sherer; Sabra Hickey of Payroll Services and John Link, John Kuilan, Mark Arthur, Keith Lewie, Tim Marshfield, Lisa Wang, Sean Boiarski, Jon Plante, Troy Grigsby, Roman Lavochnik and Dave Reed from our SL Technology Services team.
It will take a little time to get used to using Workday, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunities to learn how to navigate it. You’ll be Scarlet and Grateful to have taken the training.
