Today's Update: Monday, November 16

November 16, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, As you read in President Johnson’s message last week and over the weekend, with the rising rates of COVID-19 infection in our local and statewide communities, it is increasingly important for those who are able to work remotely to do so. For Student Life, this is complex, given that we still have students on-campus to support, we have many staff members whose job responsibilities require them to be on campus, and we will need others to help with things like move-out and quarantine/isolation responsibilities. I want to pause and send a special note of thanks and appreciation to those who are working in these very important capacities, both throughout the semester and in the coming weeks.

To help determine the best path forward, I have asked each director to develop a proposed schedule for their units that balances the need to de-densify campus as much as possible with the need to support our student population, particularly those who require in-person support.

I also asked them to be mindful of the fact that we will need staff members to come to campus to help with move-out, move-in and any other pressing needs that arise, and I ask each of you to consider ways that you can individually assist with these efforts. As a reminder, you can sign up for move-out shifts here

As always, I want to thank you again for your continued efforts that have helped pave the way for an uninterrupted Autumn Semester. It hasn’t been easy, but you all have made it happen, and I hope you know how Scarlet and Grateful I am to each and every one of you. You are Scarlet and Great, and I am so proud to be a part of this team.
