Today's Update: Monday, July 13

July 13, 2020

Dear Student Life Team,

Plans are coming together for Welcome Week. That is an important time for our students as they settle into the new semester, and for us as an introduction to what we offer students. It’s also an exciting time, and it’s important that we start the academic year in the right way. But of course, this year brings challenges unlike any we’ve experienced before.

Our approach, as always, puts safety first and is based on guidance from state and local health authorities and recommendations from the safe campus and scientific advisory subgroup of the university’s COVID-19 transition task force.

Below is what we are planning for some of the larger events. This information is also on the Welcome Week website (welcomeweek.osu.edu).

  • The Student Involvement Fair will transition to a virtual event on Sunday, August 23, from 4-7 p.m. The virtual event will give student organizations and students the opportunity to connect, chat live and be matched based on interest. Student orgs and campus departments can register at go.osu.edu/SIFair through July 19.

  • The Columbus Welcome will not take place in person, rather videos and information will be shared in a variety of ways and formats.

  • Buck-i-Frenzy for 2020 will not take place. We look forward to having it back in 2021

  • Community Commitment will transition to a virtual event on Saturday, August 29, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

We’ll share more information as plans evolve and you can check the welcomeweek.osu.edu website for updates.

Welcome Week is an important kick-off to the academic year. Thanks to careful planning, it’s going to be Scarlet and Great! ???????
