Today's Update: Monday, February 6, 2023

February 6, 2023

Dear Student Life team.

Buckeye Love is in the air.

This annual program has been held at Ohio State for several years, and this year, led in part by Student Life, it’s bigger and better than ever with events and fun all month.

At the heart of Buckeye Love is kindness, including everything from random acts to gratitude. You’ve likely heard me say many times how important these concepts are to me. Engaging in kindness is good for the recipient and for you in many ways, especially your mental health. You can read more in a story on our kindness website.

Buckeye Love officially kicks off today, Monday, February 6, which is also National Pay a Compliment Day. You can go to kind.osu.edu and send kudos to someone who deserves a compliment, kind word or a dose of Vitamin G (gratitude). You can also send me a nominee to be recognized in my High Five Friday message.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7) is National Send a Card to a Friend Day, another opportunity for you to get into the spirit of Buckeye Love. You can send a card on your own or stop by student organization Boo Radley’s table in the Ohio Union starting at 11 a.m. to get a card you can send.

There are plenty more Buckeye Love events happening all over campus this month. Some are a surprise, so I won’t spoil the fun by talking about all of them in this Update. Just keep an eye out for uplifting messages and random acts of kindness as Buckeye Love is celebrated all month.

You can also follow the Student Life social media channels on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to stay engaged with Buckeye Love throughout February. I hope you’ll share kindness on social media by using the hashtags #BuckeyeLove and #BeKind.

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Buckeye Love. It’s a Scarlet and Great way to engage in and promote kindness.
