Today's Update: Friday, September 4

September 4, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, It’s another High Five Friday. It’s my favorite day of the week because I get to express my gratitude to our team for the extraordinary work being done. I know that very little of this has been easy or comfortable, but know that your efforts are making a huge difference in the lives of our students, their families and our community.

As we head into the Labor Day weekend....

High Fives to everyone who is working in quarantine and isolation housing. They are making an extraordinary effort to support our students in quarantine and isolation spaces.

Skylar Fought gets a High Five for taking the idea of a Student Life call center for students and parents and very quickly turning it into reality. She’s also done a great job helping those staffing the line to answer all the questions they’re getting. Special thanks goes to all those helping out with this effort.

High Five to Kerry Hodak for her hard work behind the scenes to help the Council of Graduate Students set up three town hall meetings for grad students to meet with me and other senior university leaders.

The Multicultural Center’s Sophia Antoun gets a High Five for her tireless advocacy of decreasing incidents of bias or discrimination for the APIDA community through facilitation of trainings and consultation throughout the spring and summer.

High Five to John Link and the Student Life Technology Services team for their work helping Student Conduct in a number of ways, including website recovery and some detective work.

Tiffany Quattlebaum and Shelli Shoemaker each get High Fives for sourcing, distributing and stocking over 180 beds for quarantine and isolation housing.

As you might imagine, many of the High Fives I include each week are nominated by their colleagues and supervisors. If you know of someone deserving, and I know there are many, please let me know. And if you’d like to send them electronic kudos yourself, check out the Student Life Kindness website: kind.osu.edu/

Thank you all for everything you are doing. I say it often, and it comes from my heart: you are truly Scarlet and Great.
