Today's Update: Friday, September 25

September 25, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, It’s High Five Friday! So much extraordinary effort is happening all over Student Life that there is no way to acknowledge everyone who is going above and beyond. Here are just a few of the people who deserve High Five congratulations this week.

High Five to the Student Wellness Center’s Michaela Martin for leading the new Together as Buckeyes Wellness Ambassadors program.

Social Change’s Charity Martin-King is High Fived for doing a spectacular job as a panelist alongside WBNS 10TV’s Tracy Townsend, Clark Kellogg and others in a webinar conversation about race presented by the Ohio State Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. and the Kirwan Institute.

Jamison Stelzer and Anne McDaniel from Student Health Services gets a High Five for doing a fantastic job of managing data related to the university’s testing program.

Marketing’s Stephanie Lingofelter earns a High Five for incredible work in a number of areas include monitoring emails, the call center, the Buckeye Pledge and more.

High Five to all the Marketing Specialists for their hard work answering thousands of emails from students and parents.

High Fives go to Student Wellness Center team members Ahmed Hosni, Jen Forsberg, Jordan Helcbergier, Mackenzie Hogan, Geena Crosby, Nat Fiato, Janele Bayless, Joe Doherty and Ivory Levert who worked with various partners, including the College of Social Work, College of Nursing and the College of Pharmacy, to secure a $1.2 million grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. These SWC team members developed continuing education training for Ohio's behavioral health workforce.

I got a High Five worthy suggestion this week at one of the staff check-in sessions: we should encourage our team members to give hand-written thank you notes to those who regularly go above and beyond, but may not have access to email all day long, like our Environmental Services team. I love this idea and wanted to share it with you all to inspire efforts of gratitude like this. And special thanks to the Environmental Services team for advancing a safe and healthy campus!

High Fives to everyone who took the time to meet with me via Zoom this week. I’ve set aside more time next week (and will every week) to meet with team members, no more than ten at a time. Next week’s sessions will be:

  • Tuesday, 9/29 – 1 to 1:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, 10/1 – 3 to 3:30 p.m.

  • Thursday, 10/1 – 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.

If you’d like to sign up, visit: Don’t be shy, I’m really looking forward to more discussions.

And don’t forget to keep your High Five nominations coming! It makes my week to be able to acknowledge our Scarlet and Great team members who are going above and beyond, so let me know about those who deserve special congratulations.
