Today's Update: Friday, October 6, 2023

October 6, 2023

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

We open this week with a High Five to Nick Pangio who manages the Buckeye Bike Hub at RPAC. He and Student Tech Manager Sean Bock recently hosted OSUPD’s bike school, and the department praised both of them for their help and partnership.

Speaking of Rec Sports, director Andre Love was recently recognized by the NIRSA-Leaders in College Recreation professional association for his work in higher education. They called him, “A truly valued leader of our association and his volunteer service is an example to all those in the profession.” High Five, Andre!

The ACUHO-I (Association of College and University Housing Officers–International) conference was this week, so High Fives to everyone who attended and showed Ohio State’s leadership in housing. A special High Five to Conference Chair Aubrie Smith who helped make the conference, in the words of ACUHO-I leaders, “the best ever.” High Fives as well to the people who were part of the campus tours for conference attendees earlier this week, including Thyrone Henderson, Tiffany Quattlebaum, Ben Daleiden, Troy Keller, Mindy Clagg, Dan Huffman, Gabi Bockelman, Jeremy Gabis, Kim Traverse, Kurt Schooley, Abby Hertzfeld, Joel Sedziol, Kevin Bledsoe, Stacey Renker, Eric Jaburek, Julius Mayo, Shannon Mullally, Chelsea Black, Macy Mize, Michaela Pullen-Kellogg, Bridgett Keener, Julie Schultz, Morgan Gill, Julie Sanzone, Gina Jaquet, Zach Redecker, Danielle Brown and Rebecca Kapusta.

High Five to everyone who has done so much to get ready for Homecoming this weekend. I love seeing how excited our alumni are to be back on campus, and I appreciate all you do to make them feel welcome.

Did you know we have a tailgate in my office suite every Friday before home footballs games? We’ve wrapped up the one today; the next one will be Friday, Oct. 20.  Stop by the third floor of the Ohio Union for fun and snacks.

Next week ends with fall break. It’s not only the students who need to pause and take a deep breath, you should also try to slow down enough to refresh and recharge before we head into the end of the semester. I’ll try to model good behavior by not sending you a High Five Update next Friday, but I’ll be back the following week to celebrate even more Student Life successes. Keep those nominations coming.

Have a Scarlet and Great Homecoming weekend and Go BUCKS!
