Today's Update: Friday, October 16

October 16, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday, which is the eighth Friday of the semester – it’s hard to believe how quickly the semester is passing by.

There are so many extraordinary things going on in Student Life, and I am always so happy to highlight a few of them each Friday.

High Fives to the Tri-Village Lions Club. They’re leading a project to help people in the community stay safe from COVID-19 and support improved food security for Ohio State students. About a dozen Lions Club chapters, mostly from central Ohio, have come together to produce 1,400 handmade face masks. They’re selling them for $5, with $1 of the proceeds from each sale going to the Buckeye Food Alliance.

Buck-I-SERV, led by Rebecca Delo and Connor Jones, gets a High Five for planning their first-ever virtual winter break.

High Five to Career Counseling and Support Services’ Ryan Wilhelm for organizing the first virtual Graduate and Professional expo.

High Fives as well to CCSS for offering four career related programs during leadership week that helped students communicate their leadership skills to potential employers.

Dining Services’ Jason Holbrook gets a High Five for leading some ATI Wooster students on a virtual tour of Traditions at Scott. Those students will be on our campus next year, and Jason helped make their transition easier. The advisor said Jason’s tour was the highlight of the day.

A personal High Five from me to Graphic Designer Mariana Weflen for making some excellent suggestions for Today’s Update topics. I’ll be using them soon.

Don’t forget that I’m meeting with team members in special check-in sessions every week. Next week I’ve set aside Friday (October 23) at 9:30 a.m. You can sign up online: I’ve had some Scarlet and Great discussions with many of you already and am eager to talk with more of you.

Have a wonderful weekend.
