Today's Update: Friday, November 13

November 13, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, It is once again High Five Friday, my opportunity to congratulate a few of the many people in Student Life who are doing Scarlet and Great things. Don’t forget to send me your nominees for future Fridays. I want to recognize all the amazing team members who are going above and beyond.

This week, Jen Cottrell and the marketing team (among others) get High Fives for managing the COVID-19 testing program email all semester, answering the thousands of questions related to testing and exemptions that come in on a weekly basis. Ditto for Skylar Fought and the entire crew who assist with the Student Life phone line.

High Fives to Erica Regan, Stacey Renker and Mindy Clagg for guiding Student Life into our new contact tracing and student support system, Salesforce.

Liz Lubinger and D’Arcy Oaks each get a High Five for conducting useful focus groups with students on how to best communicate lessons learned about preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Dan Huffman earns a High Five for always offering clear, candid financial advice and timely turnarounds on requests.

Brad Seaholm and Troy Keller are among those who get a High Five for helping with the off-campus hot dog distribution.

High Fives to Mick Steiner and Julius Mayo for being featured in Residence Life’s Inclusive Excellence Spotlight this month.

Rob Lyons and Dan O’Carroll get High Fives for working diligently to identify and assure safe COVID-19 cold weather testing at Student Health Services.

High Fives to the Career Counseling and Support Services team for conducting mock interviews as part of the Washington Academic Internship program. The students have been accepted into the program and will be applying for and working internships in DC (virtually for now.)

A High Five to Jim Bowling for taking such beautiful photographs of recent activities for our students in quarantine and isolation housing. His images artfully capture the story and the joy of these moments. You can see for yourself online.

I am so grateful for our Student Life team and all the Scarlet and Great work you do. Have a wonderful weekend.
