Today's Update: Friday, May 28

May 28, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday! I hope you are taking my advice and taking some rest and rejuvenation time for yourself.

The Scarlet and Great work of Student Life doesn’t stop for summer, so I won’t stop celebrating your extraordinary efforts.

I want to start with a High Five to Dr. Erica Regan. After a national search, I am very pleased that she has accepted the role of Director of the Center for the Study of Student Life. She has done a spectacular job as Associate Director, and I am very excited about having her lead the department.

A High Five for the interpreters, transcribers and braillist of Student Life Disability Services for their work onsite, through technologically challenging platforms, and in all kinds of indoor and outdoor venues. The group includes Bennett Whitaker, Nicole Brown, Rebecca Perkins, Maryam Sabri, Sara Yurkovic, Michelle Doyle, Jodi Tobin, Reatha McCafferty, Lisa Vogt and Michael Queener. And a special High Five to Tiffany Hedges and Emily Ott for interpreting Commencement for attendees in the pouring rain!

Cate Heaney Gary of the Student Wellness Center gets a High Five for organizing a successful Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This month featured a variety of events and new partnerships all in a virtual format for the first time.

High Fives to Jen Cottrell, Skylar Fought and Jon Plante for spearheading the new look of the Student Life website. Check it out:

High Fives to Student Life team members Sarah Sexton (Marketing) and Kim Traverse (Facility Planning and Design) for being among the five winners of the #BeKind Instagram Wall Contest. You’ll see the artwork around campus later this summer. You can read more and see all the winning entries online:

Keep sending me your nominees for High Five Friday recognition. Great work should be celebrated by our entire team.

Have a Scarlet and Great reflective and restful Memorial Day weekend!
