Happy High Five Friday.

I’m still smiling from our OH! What a Year Celebration. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Here are some photos you might like to see. And High Fives for the rain that (mostly) stayed away.

Be sure to fill out the brief online survey at go.osu.edu/slcelebration22 about your experience at our Celebration. Your comments will help us plan for future events.

High Fives to the committee that put together our Celebration. Their hard work and thoughtfulness made for a successful event. High Fives to Tracy Stuck, Jennifer Chilman, Stephanie Lingofelter, Sean Stewart, Morgan Hammonds, Lujuana Carson, Aubrie Smith, Kellie Uhrig, Tom Reeves and Katie Enciso-Dougherty.

Summer conference housing guests are here and have commented favorably on the readiness of their rooms. High Fives to everyone who helped get things prepared for them.

High Fives to Abdel Rhnim, Candice Williams, Jamia Davis, Mohamed Ouammou, Nicole Loveless, Samira Mokhless, Tina Christian, D’Nita Thomas, Don Hendricks, James Quinn, Todd Guillozet, Bob Bostic, Austin Rech, Andy Walliser, Mario Acuna, Shawn Middleton, Billy Lowe, Mike Brecht, Paul Matlow, Sam Raymond, Mark Burkhart, Jeremiah Odoi, Humphrey Nikoi, Mike Fleming, Josh Karnap, Mark Hoy and Matt Wells for quick-turning Lawrence Tower recently.

Also, High Fives to all the Environmental Services (EVS), Building and Mechanical Services and Paint teams in North District for successful quick turns in Houston, Taylor and Jones.

Lots of love for EVS today. If you’ve been in the Ohio Union lately, you can see how sparkly clean and refreshed it is. High Fives to the team there: Tuyet Pham, Veronica Asare, Otis Palmer, Cornelius Doe, Gary Deckard, Celeste Jones, Bryan Herbst, Thanh Bui, George Anin, Genovesa Resendes, Gregory Bayless, Aster Neste, Linder Reid and Maurice Anderson.

Newly cleaned as well is RPAC, and High Fives to our Environmental Services team at the RPAC for an incredible job during the closure cleaning every inch of the building. High Fives to Admassu Demisse, Alex Asmah, Alexis Cecil, Badreddine Affane, Belkis Schoenhals, Brody Serravalli, Courtney Atwell, David Markiewicz, Jevon Witcher, Kadiatou Sow, Man Tamang, Mekdes Wassie, Nadia Arioui, Craig Ramsey, David Dure, Jacqueline Huff, John Opokuafriyie, Ken Harris, Robert Hunt, Tyler Silfverduk and all of the partners in Recreational Sports.

I love it when our departments share the love. Our Facility Operations group has several nominations for High Fives, which I’m happy to endorse.

  • Dr. Erica Regan and the CSSL team for shepherding our Facility Operations group through Qualtrics and opening an avenue to gauge staff preferences.
  • Josh Bodnar and the BuckID team for taking extra time to help our group through the new Buck ID/Staff ID process.
  • Tiffany Quattlebaum, Hannah Warner and Kori Montgomery for their commitment to financial transparency and budget education to staff at all levels.
  • Dilna Cama and the OCCSE team for going above and beyond to help a staff member in need.
  • Zia Ahmed and his entire Dining Services team for being inspiring in their excellence and applying positive pressure on the rest of us to get to that level.

High Fives to Jennifer Chilman and Mollie-Marie Workman of Buckeye Careers. They’ve been re-elected to the Executive Board of the University Career Services Committee for this coming academic year. I’m pleased they will be able to continue to share their expertise and provide leadership in career services across the university.

I saw in Slice this morning that Dr. Erica Regan along with others have published a new research article in the College Student Affairs Journal on the financial wellness of first-generation college students. High Five!

A High Five to Dr. Cheryl Lyons for being elected the Member At Large-Public Institutions for the 2022-2023 Ohio College Personnel Association Executive Board.

High Fives to the Student Wellness Center’s Blake Marble, Ahmed Hosni, Brendan Greisberger and Mackenzie Hogan for leading our alcohol and other drug prevention and recovery efforts and especially stepping up during challenging times.

We know that so many of our team members are Scarlet and Great at work, and many are also superstars away from the job. I want to give my final High Five of the week to Eric Faulk, who served as a Guardian on a recent Honor Flight trip. The program takes older veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII, Korean and Vietnam memorials, as well as Iwo Jima and Arlington Cemetery. As we head into Memorial Day weekend, High Five to Eric for his service helping make sure the vets made it there and back safely.

Have a Scarlet and Great, and safe, weekend!
