Today's Update: Friday, March 18

March 18, 2022

Happy High Five Friday!

I want to start with a High Five to the men’s basketball team for their win over Loyola of Chicago this afternoon in the NCAA tournament. And a High Five to the women’s team to wish them luck in their Round One tournament game tomorrow afternoon against Missouri State. Go Buckeyes!

High Five to our STEP team for winning the Ohio College Personnel Association’s 2022 Innovative Program Award. Our colleagues recognize the amazing work being done here at Ohio State, and I could not be prouder.

I saw in Slice this morning that Student Life’s D’Arcy Oaks co-authored an article in a NASPA Knowledge Community publication on using assessment to transition to the next normal in higher education. High Five, D’Arcy.

High Five to Kim Pachell and the Student Advocacy team for the compassionate and supportive ways to support our students and families.

Brendan Greisberger, Ahmed Hosni, Rachel Mangold, Harry Warner and Shivani Edwards get High Fives for developing a new partnership between the Student Wellness Center and Counseling and Consultation Service to create a more streamlined process for referrals between the two departments. This team effort will further enhance the way in which we support our students and break down barriers to support!

High Fives to Toni Greenslade-Smith, Qiana Smith and Zia Ahmed for hosting a meeting of the Ohio Housing Officers on the Columbus campus last week. And that team would like High Fives for Larry Moore and Katie Enciso for the delicious food served at the conference.

Nadia Barksdale from Buckeye Careers gets a High Five for meeting with an interview candidate in-person on short notice to provide a tour of the office space at the Younkin Success Center. Even though so many interviews have been conducted in a virtual format, Nadia jumped right in to provide a welcoming in-person experience for a potential future member of our team.

Last but certainly not least, High Five and good luck to the Student Life team members who will be presenting at the NASPA conference next week. I am very excited to participate on a panel with some of my colleagues from across the nation, as well as to moderate a session with a distinguished group of Black college Presidents from across the nation.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend (and Go Buckeyes!).
