June 3, 2022

Dear Student Life team,

Happy High Five Friday.

I’ll start this week with High Fives to Rebecca Delo and others who helped make the first in-person Buck-I-SERV trips since March 2020 a success. High Fives to Charity Martin-King and Michelle Miranda for serving as first-time staff advisors on a Buck-I-SERV trip to Puerto Rico. The 18 student participants were all using STEP Fellowship funds for the trip, and Chelsea Black and the STEP team get High Fives for administering those funds and the fellowships used by other students on other trips.

Speaking of STEP, the team nominates Student Life Technology Services’ Ross Meloro for a High Five in appreciation for his work on the design of a new IT enhancement for the STEP dashboard. It’s helped hundreds of students more easily navigate the process for changing their signature projects.

High Five for Kim Traverse for her wonderful design and project management work as she’s helped STEP and other academic partnership and career success staff relocate to a new space in Lincoln Tower.

BuckID’s Sean Stewart gets a High Five for completing the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) Industry Essentials Institute and serving as a volunteer at the recent NACCU Annual Conference in St. Louis.

High Five to Rae Hofmeister of Fiscal Compliance for helping out the Financial Management Deposit team for the last few months.

I owe a few High Fives from the end of the semester, including those who helped with the spring off-campus safety walks, especially the community education workgroup that planned them: Rachel DeMooy, Teri Cugliari, Blake Marble, Mindy Clagg and Erin Woods. I had a great time when I joined last month’s walk.

High Fives to the team members who volunteered to help Student Life Disability Services provide over 1,600 accommodated exams during finals for students with disabilities: Chrisse Edmunds, Erica Regan, Hannah Worley, Ivica Pavisic, Jennifer Chilman, Jordan Helcbergier, Katie Duffy, Leah Wheeler, Mackenzie Hogan, Mindy Clagg, Nancy Thompson, Ryan Lovell, Stephanie Lingofelter, Sydney Coons, Sydney Rubin, Tanisha Jenkins and Teri Cugliari.

Hosanna Tekie of Student Health Services earned a High Five nomination from Dr. Shawnte’ Elbert for being “amazing.” Dr. Elbert says Hosanna is “needed and truly appreciated.”

I have more examples of love from colleagues. John Butler of Facility Operations is nominated for a High Five for the “great pride he takes in his work...a pleasure to have around the office...providing top notch customer service.” High Five, John.

Finally (for this week), a number of new people have come on board recently. High Fives to those who are joining our team, and High Fives to everyone who has helped them onboard and feel welcome.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend.
