July 29, 2022

Dear Student Life team;

Happy High Five Friday!

Even though it’s the end of Staff Appreciation Week, my gratitude for you all goes on and on. Once again, I hope you had a great week and were able to take advantage of some of the special programming and offers!

Now on with the High Fives!

The Student Life Human Resources team gets a High Five for completing the Annual Merit Compensation Program (AMCP) data entry.

High Five to Elijah Balogh of Housing and Residence Education who recently met a family to show them a model room to help them decide on what style of room would best meet their student’s needs. The parent shared, “Elijah was so wonderful yesterday…what a wonderful person and a great brand representative for you and OSU housing. Very impressive.”

Ohio’s Collin’s Law, the state’s Anti-Hazing Act, requires that students go through training on how to identify and help prevent hazing. High Fives to the large, university-wide team led by Ryan Lovell that has pulled this together for Ohio State, including: Kelly Smith, Krystal Reeb, and Kirby Bell (Student Conduct), Donta Ingram (Compliance), Col. Michael Gimbrone, Lt Col. Emily Kubusek, and Capt. Beau Haertling (ROTC), Jodie Holava (ATI Wooster), Dr. Kim Monteaux De Freitas, Cristina Vega, Teri Cugliari, Hunter Hartwig, Ashly Horton, Will Cangialosi and Ngoc Nguyen (Sorority and Fraternity Life), Brooke Olsen and Anna Wagner (Student Activities).

This morning’s Slice had several items about Student Life team members receiving recognition, and I want to recognize them with High Fives.

BuckeyeThon received the prestigious Ryan White Overcoming Adversity Award at the recent National Dance Marathon Leadership Conference, and Felix Alonso was a Keynote speaker. Several of the students were also recognized at the conference. High Fives!

High Five to Dr. Shivani Edwards of Counseling and Consultation Service for receiving a Special Appreciation Award from the Association for the Coordination of Counseling Center Clinical Services.

Buckeye Careers’ Mollie Workman gets a High Five for winning Disability Service’s Dick Maxwell award.

High Five to Aisha Echols for discovering and turning in several long-lost keys that were hidden in a desk drawer since long before she started work here.

If you haven’t been on the third floor of the Ohio Union recently, you should check out the newly redesigned Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement office suite. High Fives to Bridgett Keener, John Cronin and his team for quickly transforming the suite into a space that will accommodate their growing team and the way they work now and into the future.

OCCSE also wants to be sure some others get High Fives, including Kerry Hodak for her unwavering support of our team as we explore future GTA roles, ultimately allowing us to best support all of our students, and Kim Pachell for always making time to answer our organization’s many questions and inquiries, helping us to demonstrate the care to our students that they deserve. High Fives!

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend.
