Today's Update: Friday, July 16

July 16, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday!

We’re getting closer and closer to a new semester and, especially for our students, getting back to campus. It’s an exciting time that requires much work and planning, so I’m Scarlet and Grateful to our entire Student Life team for preparing to make this happen in the best possible way.

High Fives to those of you who participated this week in our strategic planning sessions. There are more upcoming and you can find the full schedule online in one of my earlier updates. I’m excited to hear your thoughts and suggestions on the future of Student Life. Also, today is the last day to submit anonymous feedback online:

Jon Newnam of Student Life Technology Services gets a High Five for providing the necessary coding to fix an issue with billing through Housing.

High Five to TJ Logan, who recently spoke at the ACUHO-I Annual Conference on “The Future of Residential Life in Supporting the Hybrid Campus.”

The Rec Sports team gets a High Five for their Summer in Motion fitness program keeping students living life in motion all summer.

Student Life was mentioned this week in an article about efforts to help housing-vulnerable people in the off-campus area (Ohio State, University District Organization partner to add full-time social worker to off-campus area) as part of the recommendations from the Community safety and well-being taskforce. The article includes highlights of our efforts to distribute 1,000 pairs of socks and hundreds of care bags in the neighborhood. High Five to Tracy Stuck and team for making this happen.

High Five to you if you’ve taken time to relax this summer. If you haven’t, please do so. The semester will start before we know it, and I truly want you rested and ready to begin our next normal.

Stay Scarlet and Great!
