Today's Update: Friday, February 26

February 26, 2021

Dear Student Life Team, Happy High Five Friday. It’s been another busy week for us, so it’s nice to take a few moments to pause and celebrate our Scarlet and Great team.

High Fives to our Student Life Advancement team for hitting our fundraising goal for the year. That is an exciting accomplishment, especially during a pandemic, and it helps us expand the reach of our programs and services to even more students. I’ll talk more about this in an upcoming Update.

Jen Pelletier gets a High Five for her role in helping coordinate the President’s Prize winners process each year. The two women who received the award this year, Christina Allen and Dominique Hadad, appeared before the university’s Board of Trustees yesterday, and they – and their projects – are very impressive.

High Five to Rec Sports’ Kurt Schooley who was just appointed to a three-year term on Hilliard’s Recreation Council. Ironically, the Hilliard group is called the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council, RPAC!

Photography coordinator Jim Bowling gets a High Five for expanding our photography techniques and making some truly excellent images.

High Five to Art Director Travis Barnhart for creating an innovative executive team organizational chart for Student Life. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can see it on the Student Life website.

A High Five goes to football coach Ryan Day for speaking with students last night about mental health. They appreciated, as do I, his taking the time to address this important topic.

I want to remind you that we are having an All-Team meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday via Zoom. I’ll be providing updates on several subjects, and I hope you will be able to join me.

I also encourage you to take part in the next session of “The Doc is In,” Tuesday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m. The sign up is online:

We can talk about things that were discussed at the All-Team meeting or anything else that you want to bring up.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend!
