Today's Update: Friday, December 11

December 11, 2020

Dear Student Life Team, As we move closer to the end of the year, it is a time for reflection and remembering, and I know so many are still reeling from the loss of Willie Young, Sr. I know I am. I want to let you know that there will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Willie this weekend. The in-person service is private, but you can watch a livestream at the St. Joseph/St. Raphael Parish Facebook page tomorrow, Saturday, December 12, at 10:30 a.m. It will also be recorded and available there for later viewing.

There is also now a Student Life “Remembering Willie Young, Sr.” webpage online.

It includes a link to an online submission form on the page for you to pay tribute to Willie’s legacy by sharing your favorite memories, photos and nickname. Ways to give in his memory are currently being developed.

High Five to all of those who have helped to advance our celebration and commemoration of Willie – more information will be shared as it is available.

Shannon Mullally of Residence Life gets a High Five for her involvement and support for SpringForward, a program that provides academic success support for first-year students whose first semester didn’t go exactly as they planned and may need some help bouncing back.

The Human Resources team earns High Fives for their work on a WorkDay training program. Chrystal Zimmerman served as a volunteer Workday trainer for all of the HR modules that were delivered to the university HR community. Also, Jonathan Adams, Leah Hall and Debbie Ward served as facilitators of those trainings.

High Fives to the Student Life Marketing Design Team, Sarah Sexton, Johna Walls, Mariana Weflen and Brian Szczodrowski for their amazing work on Student Life-wide materials, along with their continued support for our student organizations.

Environmental Services team members George Owusu, David Markiewicz, Paul Wojdacz and Larence Washington, along with partners Gabi Bockelman and Tiffany Quattlebaum, all get High Fives for their work managing environmental services at on-campus Q/I buildings.

Have a Scarlet and Great weekend!
